FYI for Local Parents – Jacklyns Lane Gas Works
Parents and carers may wish to be aware of upcoming gas network improvement works taking place in Jacklyns Lane, Alresford.
SGN (the local gas network operator) will be replacing old metal gas pipes with new plastic pipes to ensure a safe and reliable gas supply for the area.
When will this take place?
Work is due to start on 2 February and is expected to continue until May.
Where will the work be?
Initial works will begin on Jacklyns Lane from 2 February, with temporary traffic lights and phased junction closures as work moves past Robertson Road, Roseberry Road, Salisbury Road and Elm Road (until the end of March).
Jacklyns Lane will then be closed in sections as works continue up to the Pound Hill / West Street junction.
Access and travel information
Access will be maintained at all times for residents and local businesses.
A signed diversion route will be in place via The Avenue – Winchester Road – Alresford Road – Petersfield Road – A272 – B3046 – Jacklyns Lane. Parents are advised to allow extra time for journeys, particularly during the school run.
Please check with bus providers for any temporary changes to routes, stops or timings. SGN has advised that traffic management will only be used where necessary for safety, and they will aim to complete the works as early as possible.
