Perins Sports Coaching Award

We are pleased to share with you an exciting opportunity available to all students currently in Year 9. As they move into Year 10, students have the option to take part in the Perins Sports Coaching Award as part of their Core PE lessons.
The Sports Coaching Award is delivered across the full academic year and involves one of the two Core PE hours each week. The course begins at Perins, where students will learn how to plan and deliver successful coaching sessions, developing key skills such as communication, organisation, and ensuring safety. As the course progresses, students will take on more responsibility, culminating in the opportunity to visit local primary schools in the summer term and lead sessions with younger children in a range of sports and activities.
This is a fantastic opportunity for students who are interested in coaching and leadership in sport. It allows them to build confidence, take on responsibility, and gain valuable experience in working with others.
We are requesting a voluntary contribution of £5.00 per student to help cover the cost of logbooks and certificates awarded upon successful completion. Please note the course is assessed as a pass or fail based on teacher observation, quality of written work and potential external assessment by other PE teachers. Although these contributions are voluntary, please note that if we do not receive sufficient contributions, we will be unable to offer the course.
We are also offering the opportunity to purchase a “Perins Coach” navy polo shirt, embroidered on the back, which can be worn during PE lessons, visits to primary schools, and after-school clubs. These shirts are entirely optional but often popular with students who enjoy representing the school in a more recognisable role.
Polo shirt cost: £14.34
Sizes available: Small, Medium, and Large (samples are available to try in the PE office—please contact Mrs Cobb in advance to arrange this: cobb@perins.hants.sch.uk)
This is a one-time opportunity to order the polo shirt
Order and consent deadline: 9 am on Thursda,y 26th June
To secure a place on the course, please give your consent via Scopay by 9am on Thursday 26th June.
If your child is passionate about sport, enjoys working with others, or is considering a future in coaching, we encourage them to take part in this rewarding and practical course.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Bentley
