Into The Woods @The Grange
a fairytale performance
At a fairytale venue
In the Summer term Perins School Theatre delighted audiences at The Grange with their adaptation of Into The Woods. With four performances over three days the casts enchanted guests with their spell binding efforts. On the final night, guests were invited to picnic in the prestigious grounds of the The Grange which was pure magic! With Noda and the local press in attendance, we received some incredible feedback, you can read the full reports below:

I just wanted to say thank you for inviting me to your production last night – I’ve been thinking about it all day as it made such an impression on me! I have never seen such good production values from a school production and believe me I have seen many. The children at Perins are very lucky to have the arts - front and centre of their education – clearly so many want to be part of it and I think the department is a leading light in creative arts for children.

Every member of the cast impressed with their assurance. It is impossible to mention everyone who deserves credit, as they all do.

The evident enthusiasm and commitment of everyone involved is commendable, and this show is another triumph for the ambitious Perins team under the ebullient leadership of Director of Creative Arts Marilitsa Alexiou. It shows just what you can achieve when you give children a challenge and then provide them with the tools and encouragement to meet it.

The collective achievement of this year's production blew me away. As a team, you are a powerhouse of creativity and magic. How fortunate our students are to have such passionate teachers! Our students are wonderful and display such talent and enthusiasm. They operated as a company and their respect for one another, and their craft was evident.
I wasn't familiar with the story or the music but was absolutely hooked throughout.
I am incredibly proud to work at Perins and I think Friday night's performance further enhanced the pride that we collectively feel for our students and school community. Thank you for a wonderful evening of entertainment.

I am almost finding it hard to put into words how I feel about the Into The Woods performance. It was truly incredible and I still find it hard to comprehend that this is a school production. You have certainly lived up to Aspire today, Inspire tomorrow.
Our daughter knew 2 years ago that Perin's was the school for her, after watching Notre Dame with me. Little did we know that 2 years later, as a new year 7, she would be taking the lead as Little Red. I can't thank you all enough for the support, advice and encouragement you have given her. As a parent nothing makes you happier than to see your child thrive - she is doing that at Perin's. The Creative Arts team have been a major part of that so thank you for taking a chance on a year 7 and nurturing her dream of performing

I actually don’t know what to say other than WOW!! What an absolutely, awesome display of fabulousness!
What into the woods has meant for Olivia is immeasurable. Whilst Perins will not be part of her life for much longer the growth that she has achieved through this performance will continue to impact her forever. she has learnt and acquired true belief in herself. I know she is immensely proud of herself and as her mother, I too couldn’t be more proud of her also.
I am truly in awe of all of the performers, I cannot believe that one school holds so much talent.

I wanted to express my gratitude to you and the Leadership team for investing in and supporting ‘Into the Woods’ over the past year.
Watching my daughter, and the close friends she has made in the cast, perform last night was very moving. I have seen her grow and develop in so many important ways through the experience, as no doubt have so many of the students.
What I have observed is something very special; the students trust and respect the staff hugely, and are therefore willing to be brave. When they not just master, but excel, in the way they all have done these past few days, their confidence and self-belief grows in such an important, lasting way

I am speechless!! WOW, WOW, WOW - what a performance. You must all feel so proud of your students.
To have so many students involved in a production of that scale was phenomenal. The whole show was so professionally put together that I felt as though I was in the West End!! Never, before have I experienced a school production on that scale (and I taught for 30 years). The costumes, the effects, the music, the stage management, everything was just amazing.
I loved every moment of it and I feel some of the words from some of the songs so poignant - "Children will look to you, for which way to turn, To learn what to be". I am sure that is what many of the children have been doing throughout the hours and hours of rehearsal and it showed!! But much more than that, those children have grown in confidence, they have made new friends, they have learned new skills and most importantly they have made memories which will likely never leave them. From experience, I know education is not just about being in a classroom - giving children time away from the 'normal curriculum' allows them to flourish and become more rounded individuals.
