Seeing the Christmas trees adorning the houses and shops of Alresford and with those advent calendar windows being opened at home, it reminds me of how close the Christmas festivities are. Plans are in place for a multitude of exciting activities for our students to participate in, both on and off the Perins campus to raise their spirits before we celebrate Christmas with our families.
There remain some more mundane tasks, less spirit rousing but equally important which I need to share with you.
Perins Site access
Following the Trustees’ full financial support to extend the perimeter fencing to further safeguard our young people, work has begun to add an inner fence separating the school buildings from the car park. This is expected to take six days. The new electronic access system at The Avenue entrance to the school, is planned to be completed by January. This means there will then be two active entrances to Perins School site with this new gate being more suited for those with restricted mobility.
Potential Land Disposal
Thank you to those who attended the public meeting on 21st November at the Swan Hotel, Alresford. The Perins presentation was positively received. It is now essential that momentum is gathered with as many people as possible registering their enthusiasm for our proposal, NA02, on the council’s website. https://www.newalresford-tc.gov.uk/ .
Go to “Neighbourhood Plan Consultation for 2024”, then “Survey”, “Click here to view the Survey”.

After entering your personal details, please go to Section 6. Housing. Part 13, Site NA02 Land Off Perins School. Under “Constraints/ Opportunities;” any positive comments entered emphasising the benefits the project will have to Perins students and its community, as well as possibilities of providing affordable teacher accommodation to assist in the recruitment of school staff would be hugely appreciated. Each adult member of your household can comment through the survey. Please forward details to any friends and neighbours keen to help. The survey closes on 12th December.
Fund Raising
Students, parents, and staff have, over past years highlighted the need for more outdoor covered spaces on our school site to provide shelter and shade for young people during social times. The need for covered areas was debated by members of the Local Advisory Board of the Perins MAT and is being enthusiastically supported by the Perins MAT Trustees. To this end our school fundraising is currently focused on ensuring our community delivers on this initiative. In the latest “fundraiser” Ventus House successfully raised £470, toward our Phase 1 project.
I hope to see many of you at the various events hosted by Perins in the next few weeks, notably our Christmas concert is at St Johns Church Alresford on Monday 16th December, join us at the interval when the Perins PTA will be serving refreshments to raise funds in support of our covered area project.
Yours faithfully
