On Wednesday 3rd of July, year 8 took part in the First Give charity event finals day. Over the past 8 weeks, pupils have been working within their Life Studies classes to choose a social issue, select a relevant charity and raise money and awareness through campaigning and other forms of action.
The groups who presented to our panel of judges all demonstrated fantastic passion and sensitivity surrounding their charity choices. The panel of judges included Perins Head of School, Mark Nevola as well as senior prefects George B and Lorna T. The final judge was Mr Russell Gordan-Smith, Mayor of Winchester.
The winning group had the fortune of being able to give £1000 towards their charity of choice. A big well done to 8H1 whose presentation representing ‘Safeline UK’ was the overall winner. An additional well done to 8P3 whose group was given a commendation for the fantastic work of the two pupils who represented them.
A final big thank you to all the charities who have supported the school and to their teachers for supporting them throughout this project.
