On Wednesday 6th March, 20 year 7 pupils were invited to take part in a visit by local archaeologist Maisie Marshall. Maisie talked to the pupils, about the recent ‘dig’ at Sun Hill and the Bronze Age, Roman and Anglo-Saxon finds. Maisie talked through the process and shared some amazing pictures of the site and the archaeologists at work, but the most exciting part was showing our students some of the actual artefacts that were found, which included a sword, spearheads, pocket knives and the remains of a collared cremation urn.
‘The pupils were all fantastic, they listened, asked lots of questions and handled the artefacts with absolute care. The session was such a success, we hope to invite Maisie back to talk to some more of our pupils later on in the year. A big thank you to Maisie and to all the pupils who took part.‘ Miss Lewis Head of History
