Congratulations to the winners of the ‘First Give’ programme who won £1000 for their chosen charity Young Carers. The Year 8 students have been researching and raising money for local charities as part of their Life Studies curriculum. The winning team represented Basingstoke and District Young Carers.
Bethany T, Henry P and Oscar B (Year 8) took to the Meon Valley cycle trail for a sponsored cycle ride of 18 miles (the equivalent distance of Perins to Basingstoke Young Carers Head Office) to raise funds for this fantastic local charity inspired by their Life Studies Project. They were joined by their Dads, teacher Mr Weston and many bags of Jelly Babies. They set off in bright sun and finished cycling through a thunderstorm to arrive back rather wet but proud. They were supported by their Life Studies classmates who ran a ‘Guess the time to complete the challenge’ competition, posters and media support.
