Every year, the Music department is pleased to offer instrumental lessons to all students in addition to their usual timetable. This summer term, we have coordinated with Hampshire Music Service to provide instrumental taster lessons to our Year 7 students. These will take place for 6 weeks, each session lasting half an hour. Specialist teachers will be offering tuition on woodwind (saxophone or flute), brass (trumpet or trombone), or singing. HMS has generously agreed to give pupils a loan instrument for the entirety of the 6-week period, so they can take instruments home to practice and perform. If the groups reach their maximum capacity, this will be available at the cost of £15 per child for the entire 6-week period, including the loan of the instrument.
Additionally, we would like to gauge interest in instrumental lessons in the next academic year. These are offered on a number of different instruments. (Piano, singing, violin, cello, flute, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, guitar, bass guitar, drums, and music technology.) Lessons are offered on a weekly basis, for 20 minutes per session. These are scheduled at different times each week to avoid the same timetable school lesson being missed consecutively. To gauge levels of interest in both of these schemes, we would be grateful if you could take a moment to complete the form linked here.
