There are several topics I would like to bring to your attention this week.
School Uniform
When I meet with leadership colleagues in surrounding schools, should the topic of uniform arise there is inevitably a series of eye rolling and shoulder shrugging. We all share the same issues; some parents think uniforms are too strict in schools, and at the other end of the spectrum others feel it not sufficiently stringent. Those at the extremes are inevitably the ones most likely to share their opinions. Please take a moment to complete a short survey here which allows every parent the opportunity to have their say and give Perins a true picture of how key stakeholders really feel about this topic, allowing leaders at Perins to gain greater insight into your views which we can consider when making future decisions.
Well-being
Following on from our recent award for successfully completing a project focused on raising our school attainment through well-being we have since participated in #BeeWell. This is a programme which is currently being delivered across Greater Manchester, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Portsmouth, and Southampton. Our students shared their views completing surveys to assist in informing future change. With this positive contribution Perins can now celebrate being a #BeeWell school.
Disposal of Perins land
As mentioned in my last letter there is currently an open consultation with a closing date of 12th December. If you’d like a say, please comment via the link here.
Christmas Jumper day
On Friday 20th December in partnership with our new caterers, Caterlink any student wearing a Christmas jumper can get a free cookie in the cafeteria. Money collected on the day will be donated to the nominated charity, Save the Children.

Perins Educational Foundation
Is a trust fund (charity no 307258) set up in 1961 to give financial support to ex-pupils of Perins School, who are either going on to further education or entering apprenticeships. Grants may be given to help buy tools, books, or equipment, or help fund various voluntary service schemes. In the recent round of grants several ex-Perins students have benefitted from grants. The Winchester Villages Trust
(Registered as Winchester Rural District Welfare Trust – charity no. 246512)
This charity looks to assist those residents in many of the parishes where students attending Perins School live. This year the charity has kindly donated a small number of supermarket vouchers which the school has distributed to support some of our families in the local area. The Trust are grateful to Geoff Amey for his fundraising that has made these donations possible.
Yours faithfully
Mark Nevola
