June 6th, 2024 marks the 80th anniversary of the D-Day landings, a joint Allied operation, which witnessed the largest seaborne invasion in History. These operations allowed for the liberation of France and took an entire year to plan.
Hampshire had a significant role to play in these operations and as part of the commemoration, our Perins History Leaders, Millie, Bethany and Connie have been leading assemblies this week. Students have also been taking part in various D-Day-related activities during their tutor times and learning all about this important part of our History within classes.
At the end of the Year 7 assembly on Monday Mr Calver shared with us: “My uncle served as part of the force and it really means a lot to me that we are sharing this history with the students, as there won’t be many people left to remember their efforts and sacrifice.”
” I would just like to say thank you to the History leaders for delivering the assemblies with such professionalism and confidence!” – Miss K Lewis – Head of History.
