The Perins Multi Academy Trust is governed by a Board of Trustees who are accountable to the Department of Education. It has the overall responsibility for the running of the two schools currently operated by it, Perins and Sun Hill Junior School. For a number of years, the MAT has had a Local Advisory Board, whose role is to liaise with the Trust Board, normally through a Trustee who attends its meetings.
The LAB has a maximum of 15 local advisors, who are elected parents/carers and staff from both Schools. It meets at least once a term in the evening on school premises.
The role of the LAB is:
- to promote the vision, mission and values of the MAT within the Schools and the local community; and
- to monitor the satisfaction of students and parents and carers by reviewing matters referred to them by the MAT; and
- to support the schools in developing partnerships with each other, with external bodies and within the local community in line with the strategies and policies of the MAT; and
- to make suggestions for improving the schools, supporting the curriculum, and increasing curricular and extra-curricular learning opportunities for students; and
- to monitor and contribute to the effectiveness of the safeguarding, child protection and general welfare arrangements at the schools.
It is an opportunity for parents, carers, and staff to make suggestions as well as to provide information and feedback to the Trust Board.
The MAT currently has up to five vacancies on the LAB and is looking to fill them. If there are more than five candidates who meet the criteria, there will be an election. If you are interested in applying or would like to know more, please make contact with the schools as below:
