Perins Sports Day takes place on Monday 18th July. Students will participate in field events and the 1500m during the morning. Track events will run between 1245 and 1500. Parents / carers are welcome to spectate the afternoon events. Please may those wishing to do so access the school site via a temporary entrance on Bridge Road (our lower field at the far west end of our school fields). Parking will be possible in this lower field.
All students will be expected to spectate the afternoon events if they are not competing, so please ensure that your children are equipped with multiple water bottles, sun-screen and sun hats. Students may wear smart PE kit for the day instead of uniform if they wish. Shelters will be available to provide shade for approximately 100 students, however, if your son or daughter is likely to struggle with spending 2+ hours in the sunshine / high temperatures, please email cobb@perins.hants.sch.uk – we will ensure that two classrooms are provided as a retreat for such students.
During lockdown, many students enjoyed contributing to their house’s sports day points by exercising at home. This will be possible again this year; students wishing to do so must submit details of the distances they run, cycle or swim between Saturday 9th and Thursday 14th July via this form: https://forms.office.com/r/0Y6MdtBuYY – which can only be accessed via a device linked to a Perins email account. We encourage students considering this to discuss potential running / cycling routes with parents / carers, to wear hi-viz clothing and to keep well hydrated. As very warm weather is forecast next week, we suggest exercising in the evenings when temperatures have fallen and to limit duration to 20 minutes.
